This directory contains PDF versions of many of the HTML files installed with Allegro CL, in the `doc' subdirectory of the Allegro directory. That directory contains the Allegro CL documentation, most of which is in HTML format. The purpose of providing PDF files is to allow viewing in a different way and to facilitate printing of parts of the documentation. Only HTML files from the [Allegro directory]/doc/ directory and from the doc/cg/ directory are included. The individual documentation pages (contained in subdirectories like doc/operators/ and doc/variables/) are not available in PDF format. Also the PDF files in [Allegro directory]/doc/ (allegrostore.pdf, basic-lisp-techniques.pdf, and clim-ug.pdf) are not included in this directory, and some of the HTML files in [Allegro directory]/doc/ are also left out (usually because they are still preliminary, like phtml.htm and aserve/aserve.html, or because they are not our files, like mop/contents.html). The PDF files in this directory are: acl-general-information.pdf: This file contains the General Information (as defined in doc/contents.htm) HTML files in [Allegro Directory]/doc/. The first document included is a variant of doc/contents.htm with active (when read in an Acrobat Reader) links to all the documentation in the file. acl-language-features.pdf: This file contains the Language Features (as defined in doc/contents.htm) HTML files in [Allegro Directory]/doc/. The first document included is a variant of doc/contents.htm with active (when read in an Acrobat Reader) links to all the documentation in the file. acl-programming-tools.pdf: This file contains the Programming Tools (as defined in doc/contents.htm) HTML files in [Allegro Directory]/doc/. The first document included is a variant of doc/contents.htm with active (when read in an Acrobat Reader) links to all the documentation in the file. acl-add-on-features.pdf: This file contains the Add-on Features (as defined in doc/contents.htm) HTML files in [Allegro Directory]/doc/. The first document included is a variant of doc/contents.htm with active (when read in an Acrobat Reader) links to all the documentation in the file. acl-common-graphics.pdf: A file containing cgide.htm and all documents in the cg/ subdirectory (the IDE User Guide, and essays on various specific topics). The included documents are listed on page 1 (with active links when using an Acrobat Reader). building-images.pdf cgide.pdf compiling.pdf debugging.pdf delivery.pdf foreign-functions.pdf gc.pdf iacl.pdf introduction.pdf installation.pdf multiprocessing.pdf os-interface.pdf release-notes.pdf runtime.pdf startup.pdf These are PDF files made from single documents. All are also included in one or another of the acl-*.pdf files described above. They are provided as individual files as well as a convenience. To view the PDF files, you must have installed Adobe's Acrobat Reader, which is available free from Adobe, at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html.
