A 2.1-1) There is an Operating System bug which is fixed with a patch (or, on Solaris 2.6, an OS upgrade) that addresses this problem

On Solaris 8 only, the problem can also be fixed by adding /usr/lib/lwp to the front of your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.

The patch or action required differs on different versions of Solaris. The specific information is:

Solaris 2.6: no patch; requires OS upgrade.
Solaris 7: needs patch 106980-21
Solaris 8: needs patch 108933-18, which supersedes the earlier patch 108827-36 for this problem, or add /usr/lib/lwp to the front of your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable
Solaris 9: Not vulnerable, no patch required.
