We are located in downtown Oakland between Clay and Jefferson Streets in the Shorenstein Building close to famous Jack London Square and the 12th Street (City Center) Bart station.

All visitors to the building are required to sign in with the friendly Shorenstein guard at the security desk in the lobby.

Public parking is available in the building garage which is located underground and entered on the 11th Street side and is open to the public from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parking fees are:

  • $1.50 each 20 minutes
  • $4.50 each hour
  • Maximum daily rate - $20.00
There are no in/out privileges for public parking.

Alternate parking is available across the street from our building on 11th and also across the street on Jefferson at City Center West Garage.

Our recommendation would be to use the building garage for ease of access to and egress from our offices.

How to get to us

There are several ways for the traveler to reach us and below we have listed the four main options. It is our hope that the information provided will add to the pleasure and comfort of your journey thereby making the experience of visiting Franz a memorable and pleasant one.

BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) is an excellent choice for the business traveler with minimal luggage and who wants to take the fastest and cheapest mode of transportation. The ride is both comfortable and economical and the route is direct. The scenery along the journey adds to the overall experience of the trip. Sit back and let BART do the work!

For the traveler who has additional luggage and wants the comfort and security of being taken directly to their destination, using a taxi service is definitely a plus. Bay Area Checker Taxi offers a superior and professional service and caters to all Bay Area airports. If you have time to spare but still want the personalized service without the cost of a taxi, then the shuttle service is the solution for you. Fellow travelers from all locations add to the fun and flavor of the journey!

By Car

When traveling by car please click here for directions from San Francisco/Oakland airports and all other Bay Area locations.

From San Francisco International Airport

When exiting the terminal follow the signs for ground transportation.

Taxis

Designated taxi stands are located directly outside each terminal at SFO. The taxi fare is approximately $55.00 + tip and travel time is approximately 25 minutes (depending on traffic) to our offices. Please be aware that very few taxi cabs accept credit cards.

Shuttle

Shuttle reservations can be made on line at www.supershuttle.com and the telephone number for Super Shuttle is 1-800-258-3826. The shuttle fare is approximately $39.00 + tip to our offices and dependent upon how many passengers are to be dropped at their destinations could take anywhere from 25 minutes to 1.5 hours.

The shuttles depart from the center island transportation zone of the arrivals/baggage claim level of the international terminal and domestic terminals 1 and 3.

BART

Hours of operation are as follows:

  • Weekdays – 4:00 a.m. to midnight
  • Saturdays – 6:00 a.m. to midnight
  • Sundays – 8:00 am. to midnight

From San Francisco's domestic terminal follow the signs for the air train (peoplemover). The air train circles the airport and stops at all terminals, on-site parking and rental car complex. BART and air train share a station at Garage G. Once you exit the air train take the escalator down to the ticketing machines and the BART station.

From the International terminal follow the signs for the SFO BART station and then to the ticketing machines.

The cost of a one-way ticket from SFO International to our offices at 12th Street CityCenter station is approximately $4.95 and takes approximately 45 minutes. For fare information for other destinations please refer to the BART website listed above.

Once you have boarded you will need to change trains at Daly City and transfer to a Pittsburg/Bay Point train (yellow line) or a Richmond train (red line) (see map).

From Oakland Airport

Taxis

The designated taxi stand is located between Oakland's two terminals and the approximate fare is $30.00 + tip and travel time of approximately 12 minutes to our offices.

Shuttle

Shuttle reservations can be made on line www.supershuttle.com and the telephone number for Super Shuttle is 1-800-258-3826.

The shuttle fare is approximately $27.00 + tip to our offices and dependent upon how many passengers are to be dropped at their destinations could take anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour.

As you exit the terminal the shuttles depart from across the street in the transportation zone.

BART

Upon exiting the terminal take the Air-BART shuttle located at the island in front of the baggage claim area to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport station on San Leandro Boulevard. Then take the Richmond train (orange line) (see map) and exit at 12th Street City Center station. Tickets for the Air-BART can be purchased through the driver and the fare is $2.00. The cost of a one-way ticket from the Coliseum to our offices at 12th Street City Center station is approximately $1.15 and takes approximately 10 minutes.

The hotel is a 3-star property that caters to the business traveler and tourist alike. The modern 21 story Oakland Marriott City Center offers commanding views of Lake Merritt, Berkeley Marina, the bay and skyline of San Francisco and both the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. Centrally located the hotel is convenient to all Bay Area attractions including Napa and Sonoma Wine Country, the East Bay and Berkeley. Downtown San Francisco is just 12 minutes via the local subway system (BART). Oakland Marriott City Center is connected to the Oakland Convention Center. Visitors to Oakland enjoy a thriving Chinatown, major league sporting events, Friday Old Oakland Farmers Market, Jack London Square and Marina, and performing arts at historic Paramount Theater. Chabot Space & Science Center, Oakland Coliseum and the African American Heritage Museum are all nearby.

The Best Western is centrally located at historic Jack London Square waterfront, the hotel is only minutes from the beautifully renovated city hall and downtown Oakland financial district. For the leisure traveler, the inn is surrounded by a variety of specialty retail stores, a state-of-the-art nine screen cinema and the world-renowned Yoshi's Nightspot Jazz Club. San Francisco's famous Pier 39 is just a ferry ride away and the new Amtrak train station is only three blocks away.

All rooms contain AM/FM alarm clock, air conditioning, cable, satellite TV, coffee/tea maker, color TV, dataport, desk, free local telephone calls, hairdryer, ironing board, movie channels, radio, telephone and VCR.

The approximate cost of a room at the Best Western is between $85-$130 per night for a queen sized room. This hotel is an excellent choice for the economically minded traveler.
